Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Covid pandemic and the medium to long term national plans for festivals and events the Iverk show committee have decided to cancel the 2021 Show.

Due to take place on the 28th August, the President, Jack Kearns, Chairman, Robert Dowley and members of the Iverk Show are bitterly disappointed to have to take this action for the second year in a row.

Guided by the recommendations of the Government, HSE, Irish Shows Association and bearing in mind the health and safety of all our friends and patrons we felt this was the appropriate action to take.

The Iverk Show, Ireland’s oldest agricultural show, has faced many challenges over the near two centuries since it was founded in 1826. The resilience of all those involved will ensure that the 2022 show to be held in Piltown on Saturday the 27th August 2022 will be, once again, a great success.

Please keep an eye to our social media and website www.iverkshow.ie where we will keep you up to date with our plans.

Finally, on behalf of all our members we wish every one of you a very healthy and safe year and thank you for making the Iverk show one of the countries great rural events.

Cantec ClearanceTecOver the past three months, Irish businesses have had to face numerous challenges as they navigate the implications of a post-Brexit era. Among these challenges is the long-term reality of increased customs clearance declarations required in order to trade between Ireland and the UK.

With the number of declarations for the first two months of 2021 having already surpassed 2020’s yearly figure, fellow Irish company Cantec Group and its software division SmartOffice Technology has launched a new automated software to tackle this problem. Unveiling their automation software ‘ClearanceTec’ at a virtual event, they were joined by Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney T.D. who discussed how Cantec Group’s customs clearance automation software will make a big difference for exporters going forward with over 250 businesses in attendance.

Due to the increase in declarations now required and the complexity associated with this, ClearanceTec will enable businesses to save a significant amount of time during the customs clearance process, speeding up each individual declaration by up to 20 minutes.

In 2020, Cantec, which started out a print service provider in 1994, merged with SmartOffice Technology and together as part of the Cantec Group, their software solutions simplify the way people work by automating everyday business processes.

Discussing the launch of ClearanceTec, Greg Tuohy MD of Cantec Group said, “The core focus of SmartOffice is to help businesses automate and streamline processes which take up a disproportionate amount of time for the value they add. With the issue of customs clearance declarations evident, our team at SmartOffice, led by Group Commercial Director Paul Martin were keen to use the software engine of SmartOffice’s highly successful accounts payable automation solution to automate the customs clearance process. We worked closely with John Dawson of Bell Transport & Logistics, a well-established customs clearance agent in Waterford, in the development phase of ClearanceTec. John has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the logistics business, and has carved a niche for his company in handling customs clearances declarations on behalf of his customer base of exporters.”

John Dawson, Managing Director of Bell Transport & Logistics said, “While disruption was expected and despite hiring additional staff in preparation for the significant increase in declarations, the sheer volume surpassed all expectations as we coped with the surge in business coming our way. We were delighted to work closely with Cantec Group in the development of their software and we are confident it will become an instrumental part of the business, significantly reducing the time taken per declaration. It is a game-changer for Irish exporters and clearance agents.”

Having been successfully BETA tested with a number of Cantec’s clients, businesses using ClearanceTec are expected to deal with up to five times the number of clearances going forward.

As part of the launch event titled ‘Power of the Pivot, Reinvent your Business’ which also discussed Cantec’s pivot; host Alan Quinlan, Munster and Ireland rugby legend was joined by a number of business leaders who described their own transformational experiences.

Two brothers have bagged €1500 after scooping the #TikTokMicDrop top prize on regional radio station Beat 102-103 in association with Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, and Wexford City & County Councils.

Since early March, Beat 102-103 had been calling for content creators from across the South East to raise road safety awareness by creating fun, informative and eye-catching TikToks.

Dayl and Scott Cronin shot their quirky viral take on the Safe Cross Code at their Clonmel home, which encourages the wearing of safety belts, crossing the road safely, and observing pedestrians whilst driving — all with a little help from a cat and a wheelie bin!

The brothers witty and informative entry was unanimously selected by Beat’s panel of experts, who were tasked with narrowing the entries down to six finalists and a single winner.

Given the quality of the duo’s TikTok, it comes as no surprise that Dayl has plenty of experience in front of the camera. Having risen to fame as a member of Louis Walsh’s now-defunct boyband Hometown, the vocalist has since become a household name thanks to appearances on RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars and Virgin Media’s The Six O’Clock Show.

Speaking to Niall & Vinny on Beat Breakfast on Friday morning (March 23), Dayl said his mother was the driving force behind encouraging him to enter: “she’s obsessed with TikTok and said we should give it a go ¬— I just said it to Scott as we’ve been doing TikToks together for a while now; it’s a great initiative so we had to give it a go! Mam and Dad aren’t the best camera workers, but they did good in the end!!”

While the lads knew that shooting the TikTok would provide plenty of laughs, they never foresaw such a huge reaction on social media. “We couldn’t get over it”, said Dayl. “Within 24 hours the video had 25,000 views! Even in the last week the views just shot up — it was crazy.”

Following Niall & Vinny’s winner reveal, a shocked Dayl said that the prize money would be split between him and his brother Scott, with the cash injection going towards car insurance & providing some welcome relief for the singer who has been out of work due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.
